Your contribution limits
Concessional contributions include salary sacrifice amounts and employer contributions on which employers can claim a tax deduction.
Further information about the contribution cap for concessional contributions is available from the ATO website www.ato.gov.au.
Non-concessional contributions are personal member contributions; these amounts come from after-tax money and have no tax deduction claimed on them.
What happens if I or my employer exceed my limit?
You receive an assessment and release authority form from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
How must I pay the assessment?
Pay the ATO directly, submit an ATO release authority form to another super fund, or elect to use your MilitarySuper ancillary contributions (subject to availability). Your mandatory personal contributions and employer benefit comprise a defined benefit and cannot be used by law to discharge a release authority.
