Your productivity benefit
A productivity benefit has accrued on behalf of all members since 1 January 1988.
Department of Defence will pay this benefit separately to your DFRDB benefit.
When is it paid?
In certain circumstances, your productivity benefit is paid to you when you leave the ADF. However, in most cases, it must be paid to a rollover fund of your choice until you permanently retire from the workforce on or after your preservation age.
Your benefit is paid on scheme exit to you or your family:
- if you retire from the workforce on or after your preservation age; or
- if you reach age 60 and change employer; or
- in the event of your death.
If your benefit is not paid immediately, you must nominate a rollover fund (an approved deposit fund) to receive it until one of the above conditions is met. If you encounter financial hardship, your chosen rollover fund may allow early release of some or all of your productivity benefit subject to you meeting prescribed conditions.
